About Us

What We Do Best

Our Mission

To facilitate a process that can remove disadvantaged people from a context of dependency to that of self-sufficiency and through multi-sectorial and culturally meaningful approaches, reintegrate them back into society so that they can live purposeful and productive lives.

Your Permission

With your (our clients') permission, we would like to work with you and find a lasting solution by providing you with the tools, skills, and resources needed to transform you so that you receive a handout and a hand-up of your situation. We provide service with you, not to you.

About Us

For over fifteen (15) years, we have provided a soup kitchen and food pantry to over 3,000 recipients monthly. The clients come from East Orange, Orange, Newark, Irvington, and other surrounding communities.
Our food pantry is one of the state’s largest and the only one with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey that remained open throughout the pandemic. The Essex County Executive Office and the Mayor’s Office of East Orange used our facility to distribute “Food to Trunk” during the lockdown period.

There has been exponential growth in the number of clients who receive food from our pantry and soup kitchen. We started the year by providing food monthly to about 2,000 persons in a household to over 3,000 persons every month.

The Community Food Bank of New Jersey is our leading donor partner, supplying food worth over M2 million annually.

Private foundations and donors also fund our pantry’s general operating support and capital improvement.

There are about twenty-seven (27) active volunteers at our food pantry on Mondays and around seven (7) at the soup kitchen on Tuesdays.
